As one of the owners of Arizona Performance Institute, I get asked one question more than almost any other:
“Why don’t you take my insurance?”
It’s a fair question. And while it might sound like a business decision on the surface, the real reason goes much deeper, it’s about the kind of care we believe people deserve.
The typical insurance model rewards volume, not outcomes. Therapists in high-volume clinics are often required to see 3–4 patients at the same time. Appointments get shorter, quality suffers, and the focus shifts from solving your problem to checking a box for reimbursement.
That’s not the kind of care we want to deliver.
At AZPI, we made the decision to not be in network with certain insurance providers such as United Healthcare, because the reimbursement rates simply didn’t allow us to provide the level of care we hold ourselves to.
Here’s what you can expect when you work with us:
This model allows us to stay focused on you, not on what your insurance will or won’t pay for. And that’s where the breakthroughs happen.
We understand the concern: “If you’re out of network, is this going to cost me more?”
Here’s the truth: not necessarily.
In many cases, our patients pay less out-of-pocket in the long run because they:
We also provide superbills for you to submit for potential reimbursement, and we’re happy to help walk you through that process.
This isn’t about being against insurance. It’s about being for a better way to deliver care. We’ve seen firsthand what’s possible when therapists aren’t limited by billing codes, time constraints, or corporate productivity quotas.
We choose to focus on:
And our patients feel the difference.
We’re happy to talk through your specific situation, whether you're post-surgery, dealing with chronic pain, or just want to move and feel better. Our goal is always to help you get the best care possible even if that means pointing you in another direction.
